New Year Message 2025

Firstly let me bestow my blessings on you and your family for a long and healthy life filled with peace and joy! 

I am glad that you have been a part of my life in whatever manner thus far. While we may or may not have differences of opinion, I still value our relationship. And I take this opportunity to thank you for tolerating any of my flaws along the way. 

As we step into a new year, I look forward to building upon our friendship. I am hoping to launch exciting initiatives this year, and I would like you to be part of them, so watch this space. I am sure that you, too, will have wonderful things planned for this year, and I wish you nothing but success with them.

The past several years have been a testing time for myself and many others in the political space. I am glad that I was able to stand on my principles throughout the ordeal. It has made me a stronger person with a much broader understanding of life and beyond. I thank those who acted against me during this time because if it wasn’t for you, I would not have had the opportunity to test myself in the face of challenge. I forgive them all for their trespasses. 

The attached image is a photograph of the Colombo skyline which I believe was taken on the 31st night. It is a true testament to the success we as a country have achieved during our lifetime. While you may disagree with me on many things, I believe we all must acknowledge that this grand sight is largely owed to the great leadership given to our nation during the time of His Excellency Mr Mahinda Rajapaksa. And to be fair, let us be thankful for all leaders before him and after him for moving our country forward no matter how slow it may have been. 

Charlie Chaplin once said, “Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot.” Looking at this picture, please allow me to modify his quote as “Life is sad when seen in close-up, but a great success when seen in long-shot.” May The Dharma Guide Our Way!
